How Do You Know If Your Keywords Worked?

Even the best keyword can't bring you views, clicks, or sales until you use it in a listing.
That's why our final step is to test.
Choose the strongest keywords from your Keyword List.
Add them to the title, tags, and other relevant parts of a new or underperforming listing.
Then give the listing time.

Remember:
Every listing is an experiment. But how do we know if our experiment worked?
Before you make another change, ask yourself:
Do you have enough data to make a decision?

Probably not yet.
With only a handful of views, it's difficult to know whether the keyword isn't working or whether not enough shoppers have seen your listing yet.
There isn't a fixed amount of time you should wait.

A busy shop may gather enough data in a few days. A quieter shop may need several weeks.
The important thing is having enough data to make a fair comparison.
Sometimes a keyword performs exactly as you hoped.
Sometimes shoppers respond differently than you expected.
That's okay.
Either outcome teaches you something.
💡Tip: Change one thing at a time.
If you change your title, tags, photos and price together, you'll never know which change made the difference.
If you change everything, you learn nothing.
You're not trying to prove you're right.
You're trying to learn what shoppers respond to.
ACTION STEP
Choose one underperforming listing and add some of the keywords you've researched.
Then give the listing enough time to gather meaningful data before deciding whether the change was successful.
Let the data finish speaking.
Great!
You've completed your first keyword research cycle.

You started with ideas, validated them with real shopper data, refined them into stronger opportunities, saved your best ideas, and finally tested them in a listing.
You've just completed the fifth and final step of keyword research: Test.
But keyword research doesn't stop here.
Every listing teaches you something.
Every keyword is another opportunity to learn.
Next, we'll look at how to use what you've learned to make even better keyword decisions.
