Search Volume

Search volume is an estimate of how many times a particular keyword or query is searched within a given period. It tells you how much demand exists for a term, which is the first thing to weigh when choosing keywords.

High search volume means more potential traffic but usually more competition, while low volume means a smaller audience but often an easier path to the top of results. The art of keyword selection is balancing volume against competition and relevance to your actual product.

eRank reports estimated search volume for keywords so you can prioritize terms that have enough demand to be worth targeting while avoiding terms so competitive that a smaller shop has little chance of ranking.
